Google Inc. announced the beta test of AdSense for RSS feeds. The company also launched Google Desktop Search for Enterprise.
Google AdSense for Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds enables publishers to include relevant text ads in their feeds. This also allows publishers to receive a share of the revenue generated by ad clicks.
Publishers must apply for AdSense for feeds before they are approved for the new program. The search giant says that once publishers are approved, they simply insert a few lines of code into their feeds and text-based AdWords ads start appearing.
Google says the benefits include additional revenue for publishers, extending the reach for AdWords advertisers and helping users get relevant information about products and services.
Google says it is accepting applications from RSS publishers that have more than 100 active subscribers to their RSS feeds.
Google's Desktop Search for Enterprise is a free downloadable application for companies. Through a collaborative effort between Google and IBM, the new Google Desktop Search for Enterprise provides users search capabilities across Lotus Notes messages.
The company did not comment on whether it will be serving ads through the new enterprise Google Desktop Search.
